There are literally thousands of Affiliate Programs to promote for income, but there is a way to make affiliate program income and avoid your competition. There are certain affiliate programs that are better to promote than others. Yes, you can still make money with commission junction and clickbank, but there is a way to do it without all the searching and competition.

Step #1

The first thing you need to do is understand that clickbank and commission junction are great, but they are not for the beginner. They are better left for later, once you have a steady income and have been successful with your promotion methods. You will find that there are a ton of affiliates already promoting clickbank and commission junction programs.

Find a niche. This is the key to all affiliate marketing and is the first thing you should always do. EBay is great for finding niches and so is Google. Understand that making money, lose weight, shopping, and cell phones are all niches, but they are incredibly broad niches and you will lose money if you try to start with anything that broad.

Narrow your niche down to a smaller more precise niche. For example, if you are looking in the golf niche, then you could narrow it down to golf swing training or learn how to sink more putts. These would both be much more narrow niches and you will be more successful in these niches than if you just start with golf.

Find an independent affiliate program that you can promote to make an income. An independent Affiliate Program is an affiliate program that is not on a network like commission junction or clickbank. Another good alternative is to use a smaller network like clixgalore. This will give you a program that is not being promoted by all the gurus and thousands of other affiliates. There might still be a few hundred affiliates, but there will be less than if you choose a commission junction or clickbank product.
